VRML is, We at TNT, Clarkweb, Dataspace, etc believe, The Future. Not that it would have come about as natural evolutionary change, but because of fanatical people influenced by the book, "Snowcrash" (This might be oversimplifying things a little....or maybe not).
Not that fanaticism is bad; no, we ourselves have long been waiting to visit the black pyramid, get a nice little virtual house right off downtown, etc. We, the Internet Junkies of the world therefore have a mission:
MAKE THE FUTURE!
With that in mind, we have started a project called Dataspace, which will allow us to hopefully make a contribution to that future. The Dataspace project is broken down as follows:
| Phase 1: Establish a Static VRML World, with space provided for personal, educational and commercial enterprises; Provide assistance to individuals wishing to work (or play) in the field of VRML; Establish a resource base to further the project. Expand the pool of talented individuals contributing time and resources to THE CAUSE. | Phase 2: Establish a Dynamic VRML world. Right now, the "Alphaworld" project and worlds, inc. is the clear leader in this field. We want to go a giant leap further, and provide an EXTREME level of interaction between avatars (and their environment) using existing technology, if not existing software. | Phase 3: True immersive 3-D VRML world. |
Keep in mind, something like a true, immersive 3-D VRML world is NOT going to come from some multi-billion dollar corporation, and its NOT going to be supplied by the government. Basically, the aforementioned entities are going to supply merely the tools...NOT the ideas and thoughts necessary to make such a thing happen (kinda like the Internet itself, ya know?).
