A very significant event in the course of US history occurred yesterday.

Towards the end of the day, March 7th, 2000, Senator john McCain Effectively lost the GOP nomination; Mr. Bush will be the Presidential Candidate in the next election.

And he will lose.

There are some actually pretty evident reasons for this. About 40% of the people in the country are republicans, about 40% are Democrats, with the remaining 20% all mixed up. Of course this is not really a great measure of how the election will go; Some Democrats are more conservative than others, some Republicans are more liberal; people won't necessarily vote along party lines.

And of course the 20% "others" won't necessarily vote for their particular candidate; they might actually want to cast a vote that actually means something, and pick the 'lesser of two evils" candidate from the two possible contenders.

However.

This election, I believe more than any previous one, is going to hinge upon one thing: Woman Voters. Why do I say this? let's take a look at the candidates:

  • Al Gore. Democrat. Pro-Internet, Anti-Gun, Supports Abortion, Supports Minority Equality Legislation, Liberal.

  • Bush. Republican. Pro-Gun. Pro Capital Punishment. Anti-Abortion, Anti-Catholic, Conservative.

Both sides will get the die-hard party line voters; the ones who just vote for whoever the party nominates. This gives us a tie.

But then it gets confusing. I don't think I'm the only person in the country who is having a problem with this election.

If Al Gore gets into the White House, we can count on the death of the 2nd Amendment; I would imagine the majority of non-military firearms manufacturers will be out of business within 6 years, since the Class-Action lawsuits will be allowed to proceed unchecked; legislated requirements for "Smart Weapons" will become a reality; Gun Owner ID cards will be a requirement. Look for the illegalization of further "Assault Weapons", the definition of which will be expanded to cover pretty much everything but single-shot rifles; I would suspect there will start to be a campaign against "Sniper Rifles" soon, as well.

If Bush gets into office, Abortions will be illegalized, in any shape form or fashion, including medical emergencies and Rape cases.

See the Dilemma?

I have to vote for Bush. I don't want to, because he can't win, and I'm pro-choice. but Abortion isn't covered in the Constitution, And I feel that bush WILL keep the Constitution in force.

But I can NOT see any female of childbearing age, aside from that 20% of "Party-line" voters and the Religious right, voting for Bush. "He's anti-choice. He wants woman to die on the delivery table." So they will vote for Gore.

So buy your guns and ammo now folks; you won't have the chance to pretty soon.
