Gnutella Info Dead Company Software |
Added Hearts of Iron, Hardwar to the Game Section
The Internet is kind of starting
to suck. Pop-up banners? we can circumvent them. SPAM? easily ignored, or
filtered. But missing downloads? that really sucks. half the time when I go to
download something, the link isn't there. Or, the company has redirected to some
lame site that makes you register to download. Yeah, right. I really, really
miss winfiles.com
these days, but such is life, I suppose. We do still have Tucows
and simtel, they still haven't sold out
completely; and in an emergency the cnet downloads site is almost usable. I
guess it all comes down to the bandwidth, right? everybody starts downloading
files and the host has to pay for that bandwidth.... it's a bunch of crap.
What's needed is a public file mirroring system, on the lines of Freenet, but
for game patches, shareware, etc (you know, legal stuff). oh, wait, thats TUCOWS
isn't it? but they are even getting hard to get along with; it's a pain to get
something included with TUCOWS,
and wouldn't it be easier if everyone with a broadband connection in the world
just shared 100 megs of space?
End Rant.

With apologies to Maxis: the Sim Mars clip that made me so pissed off when they cancelled the project.

supposedly breaks the network) These are just here for archival purposes, they
don't work real great anymore

Bearshare v2.05 (note: Great client, but I don't recommend it; it's time-limited. I suggest V1.23, and ignore the offers to upgrade, they are up to something)
