[807] John PEAIRS served in the military in 1819 in PA.
JBarbara Ann & Robert Gordon Wilson, wilsonr@songs.sce.com send the following information: "John PEAIRS 153,154 was born in 1763 in Fayette Co., Pennsylvania.155,156,157 The 1850 census indicates that he was born in Virginia. One source indicates that he was born in 1766. He resided at his home from 1763 to 1800 in Fayette Co., Pennsylvania.158 He resided at his home from 1805 to 1812 in Columbiana Co., Ohio.159 He bought part of Section 25 of St. Clair Township from the U. S. Government on 22 July 1805. And, on 18 February 1806 he bought part of Section 26 of St. Clair Township from the U. S. Government. On 18 August 1808 he bought 199 acres from John and Nancy Beaver of Georgetown, Beaver County, Pennsylvania in Section 25 and 26 in St. Clair Township, which was sold on 7 July 1814 to James Kenney for $2000. He resided at his home from 1814 to 1834 in Wayne Co., Ohio.160 John bought 160 acres of land in Section 22 of Franklin Township on 22 November 1814. In 1819 and 1820 he owed back taxes on this land. In 1820 Nicholas Jones lived next door who married an Elizabeth Peairs. Also, in the area was James Bolin who married another Peairs girl. He served in the military in 1819 in Pennsylvania.161 On 15 Feb. 1823 there is an application for a "New Certificate" being filled in "The State of Ohio, Wayne County" as follows:
On this fifteenth day of February A.D. 1823; before me the undersigned , a Justice of the Peace within and for the county aforesaid; personally appeared JOHN PEARCE who on his oath declares that he is the same person who formerly belonged to the company commanded by Captain John Guttery in the regiment commanded by Colonel ______ Gibson in the service of the United States; that his name was placed on the pension roll of the State of Pennsylvania, that he received a certificate of that fact under the signature and seal of the Secretary of War; which certificate in or about the fall season of the year A.D. 1819 as near as this deponent can now recollects at Wooster in the County and State aforesaid, was put into the hands of Mr. John Bever to enable him to make out the necessary vouchers to draw the pay then due to me and from that time this deponent has never seen or heard of said certificate which it is believed was accidentily lost or mislayed.

On 10 April 1832 the pension was increased to $6 per month. He resided at his home from 1834 to 1840 in Richland Co., Ohio.162 He lived in Troy Township. He died on August 1, 1856 in Mansfield, Richland Co., Ohio.163,164 He was buried after August 1, 1856 in Richland Co., Ohio.165 He was buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Springfield Township."
