Old family records, source not stated. Lived on a farm near Knoxville, then moved to Madisonville, Monroe Co., TN where they bought a large farm and built up a fine reputation for breeding and selling blooded dairy cattle. In April 1836, the farm became too small for the business they had built, so they sold and moved to near St. Joseph, MO where they had a much larger farm. On 5 Apr 1847, the family was joined a train of 84 wagons to Williamette Valley of Oregon.

Jerry Jack shares the following: "This is from a Jack Family Tree that was sent to me many years ago. It includes McCallie and Davis: The Family of JEREMIAH JACK, Jr. (1.3). Jeremiah Jack, Jr. of Jeremiah and Martha (Gillespie) Jack, b 2 Aug. 1787, TN; d 24 Jan. 1862, in the Willamette Valley of Oregon; m 29 Aug. 1816, Knox Co., TN, to Mrs. Susannah Davis, nee McCallie, b 16 July 1782, Blount Co., TN; d 12 Sept. 1856, Ore. She m/1, to James Davis, prior to 1804. They were parents of 2 sons. John McCallie Davis, received a Land Grant #155, 28 July, 1808, signed by John Sevier, bounded by Susannah M. Davis, Samuel and Robert Davis. On 1 Aug. 1808, he received Grant #189-116, and sold the land to William E. Creswell, 29 Nov. 1825. Samuel Davis was a Revolutionary War soldier, b 24 Dec. 1755, Rockbridge Co., Va., served in various companies, 1776-1780; removed to Washington Co., where he remained until 1797, when he moved to Blount Co., TN in 1808. He died Madison Co., Ala., Aug 31, 1842. His Revolutionary file, in the National Archives, Wash., D.C. is S-16-756. His obituary was in the Huntsville (Ala.) Democrat, Apr. 30, 1843. He was listed in the list of Tax payers of Blount Co. (Data researched by Mrs. B.W.Gandrud, Tuscalloosa, Ala.) The Land grant #189-116 was bounded by Robert Davis, husband of Catherine McCallie, sister to Susannah. (It may be assumed Samuel Davis was the father of James and Robert Davis. I have not tried to determine their relationship. HEKR) John McCallie Davis, b 24 Sept. 1804, TN; d 27 Feb. 1882, m 23 Dec. 1824, to Jane Scott, b 1803; d 1868, bur Lonas Crawford Cemetery, Arrowhead Trail, Knoxville, TN (p in DeArmond history). She was a daughter of Capt. James and Jane (Adams) Scott, prominent pioneer settlers in Blount Co. They were dismissed from the New Providence Church in Maryville, Sept. 22, 1821, apparently moving their membership to the First Presbyterian Church established in Knoxville, as they were both later buried in that cemetery. Mrs. Jane (Adams) Scott died, 10 Aug. 1837, aged 77 years, at the home of her son-in-law, John McCallie Davis. Her son, James Scott, Jr., m Jan. 25, 1825, Knoxville, TN, to Eliza Naomi Bane Ramsey, sister to Dr. J.G.M. Ramsey, author of Annals of Tennessee.)
