About ICAPO |
The International Child Abuse Prevention Organization has, with all things considered, but one purpose: the prevention of child abuse.
There are many organizations with this goal; However, ICAPO perhaps has a different perspective on the topic than the traditional law enforcement agency or non profit organization. The law enforcement agencies have to keep their minds on building a case that will stand up in court, while not violating the defendants right in any of a myriad of ways; all too often a law enforcement agency will not be able to take action until a death occurs. The various state & national organizations such as Child Protective Services are usually staffed with individuals who are not trained in investigative procedures, and have to achieve a certain level of performance to keep their employment. The non-Profit organizations are not sometimes in a position to take effective, immediate action upon notification of a child being abused, and have to operate in such a way that sufficient donations come in to pay all their staffers paychecks.
Their are also a few individuals in the world, particularly on the Internet, who are trying vigilante justice in the form of hacking pedophiles they have discovered; we at ICAPO believe this approach is merely evolving the criminals in question (teaching them when their methods are not secure enough), not stopping the crime.
Finally, their are various religious organizations who try to do something about child abuse; Some of their efforts are noble & successful, but they still are operating under a religious set of principles, and perhaps take sometimes too broad a view of what constitutes child abuse.
Due to the current makeup of ICAPO, it is primarily focused on crimes that take place on the Internet, such as Child Pornography, Pedophilic activity, Stalkers, etc.; However, we will endeavor to do our best to assist in any non-internet related abuse which comes to our attention.
The principles of ICAPO:
The protection of children from abuse is above considerations such as Law, Politics, Religion or national boundaries; Nothing should take precedence over keeping children safe from harm.
The rights of a child take precedence over the rights of a adult.
The only crimes that ICAPO is concerned with are those which are abusive of children in nature.
A very important issue. it's probably not necessary to address this, but: We will not divulge who you are. Period. Our records are not even kept on a computer hooked to the Internet. We believe that wanting, and doing something about the protection of Children makes up for pretty much anything else.
ICAPO is not chartered as a Non or For profit; it has no legal standing or existence. All operating expenses are paid out of the members pockets, or from reward money. If you give us money, it is NOT a tax write off, you will get no brownie points, your name will not be lit up in lights. It is a gift, pure and simple.
